Congratulations to American Band author Kristen Laine for winning the L.L. Winship/PEN New England Award in nonfiction for books published last year. She will receive the award at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston on March 30. Now Laine is in the company of authors such as Sebastian Junger (A Perfect Storm), Tracy Kidder (Among Schoolchildren) and E.B. White, who have also won the award.
American Band is about the story of CHS’ 2004 marching band season where they finished in second place at the ISSMA Class B State Championship and some of the main characters from that year in marching band.
